NFL teams coming out in unison to leak they aren't interested in pursuing Lamar seems unprecedented to me. One could argue just being linked to Watson 2 years ago would have negative consequences for franchises, and I recall few if any QB needy teams making it known they weren't interested. I'm normally with you when you're pushing back against twitter conventional wisdom etc but not in this instance. Owners are uniting to try and crush the possibility of fully guaranteed deals for players.
You could be right. Even so, I don't think fully guaranteed deals for QBs helps players generally. It's a hard cap league, so if there are more fully guaranteed deals, that means there will just be more dead money, or more teams carrying QBs on the roster they don't really use. There would be less money to go around for productive players. At least that's how I believe it works.
Agreed on all of those points. The only part of your podcast I disagreed with was how dismissive you were of the possibility of collusion. I very strongly believe that's what's happening here even though proving that from a legal standpoint is likely impossible.
I came off as too dismissive. More like I'm dismissive of being certain its collusion when presumably all these guys think alike already. Appreciate the feedback
